Storytime runs three times per week.
Join local artist Mary-Rose Riley for an [exchange] in her current Artspace exhibition LIVING, a collection of observation-based paintings and drawings made during her thirteen years living in Stanley.
The works move between landscapes, interiors and still life, recording the everyday experience of making a life in a new place. Before moving to Stanley at the end of 2013, Mary-Rose lived in Wodonga for twenty years. The move brought a significant change of pace and environment, prompting her to look closely at her new surroundings and life.
In creating this body of work, Mary-Rose found herself drawn to a closer, more intimate view, looking carefully at the trees, birds, interiors spaces and small details. Through drawing and painting, she has spent years observing and recording her world in Stanley, gradually developing a deeper connection with it.
Mary-Rose will discuss her practice, her artistic processes and how sustained observation has shaped LIVING.
Light refreshments will be provided.
