Fence Lines is a new body of paintings on canvas by emerging artist Courtney Young, inspired by the country that she lives and works on in Rutherglen, Victoria. Courtney is also a regenerative farmer. She holds a Bachelor of Environments from the University of Melbourne and has a background in environmental restoration.
Courtney’s work explores prevailing colonial approaches to understanding and perceiving the landscape and how land management has both ecological and visual ramifications. Her place-based practice questions outdated wild/domestic, native/invasive dichotomies. This new series of works border on abstraction and are grounded in a love of colour, texture and layers.
All artworks in the exhibition are for sale.
