Before you enter the Albury-Wodonga WAM Poetry Slam Heat, taking place on Thursday, September 11, polish your poetry, write your words, modify your meter and shine up your stanzas at our free workshop.
John Englezos will guide you in writing words that electrify the imagination. Express your creative ideas or reshape existing work into competition-ready pieces. Learn about poetry slams and how to use your voice and body to bring the house down on stage.
Whether this is your first time experimenting with thoughts to the page or you have been writing for years, this workshop is for you.

About John Englezos
John Englezos is a spoken word poet, Tedx speaker coach and Melbourne’s 2015 Poetry Slam Champion. John was on the first Australian team represented at the National Poetry Slam in Denver, Colorado in 2017.
Running reflective and creative workshops in schools, local councils and mental health support groups, John advocates for creativity to nurture one’s own wellbeing, and to foster deeper community connection. His work has been described as “Pixar in poetry” with his creative work and book If The World Were Upside Down centering around notions of hope, identity and wonder.
John is also an uncle to six amazing kids, and an honorary brother to many.
