Trained as a graphic designer and with time spent as an interior design consultant and calligrapher, Albury-Wodonga artist Alison Percy is Hyphen’s Artist in Residence in the Creative Studio from May to July.
Alison explores the land, the figure and the flower with her work referencing traditional Japanese calligraphy, combining her fascination of fluid forms with her knowledge and passion of colour.
Alison’s style is clean but lyrical and gives notion to a previous career in illustration. She continues to engage with this interesting tension between art and design through her semi-abstract paintings. Alison’s work is full of movement and rhythm, juxtaposing vibrant and muted tones as part of her continuous study of colour.
While in residence, Alison will be developing works for art fairs in Sydney and Melbourne featuring High Country floralscapes, still life and the flower.
Alison will host open studios each month of her residency.
Hyphen’s Creative Studio residency offers an exciting space for artists, designers and other creatives to develop their work in a purpose-built artist’s studio within Hyphen - Wodonga Library Gallery. Hyphen artists in residence have unique opportunities to share knowledge and skills, be inspired and connect with the community in a vibrant cultural centre. This is the third residency in the creative studio program.
